Hi, I am Rachel and I work in the Southampton office. In December I finally became both AAT and ACA qualified and I am now trying to work out what my next challenge will be. During my time at Grant Thornton I have been lucky enough to work in the Audit and Personal Tax departments and currently am now based within our Agriculture and Accounts Preparation team. I joined this website over a year ago so that I can pass on my experiences, to help you to choose the right firm for you. I hope you have found the website useful.

We recruit students straight out of sixth form on to our school leaver programme but also welcome applications from candidates who may not necessarily be recent school leavers. For university students who want an early taste of life at Grant Thornton we have a summer internship and a 12 month placement programme.

We offer graduate programmes in Actuarial, Business Risk Services, Recovery and Reorganisation as well as Audit and Tax.

Audit is formally examining the accounts of organisations ensuring they are presenting a true picture of their financial situation. Tax involves the analysis of business and personal financial arrangements to deliver optimal and sustainable tax efficiencies for our clients.

Our application process begins with an online application followed by online numerical and verbal reasoning tests, a telephone interview and an assessment day. Our assessment days consists of a manager interview and a case study assessed by one of our partners.

We welcome applications from international students provided they meet the international equivalents of our academic requirements and support visa applications for those who are successful.

Our trainees receive an initial holiday allowance of 22 days plus bank holidays plus the option to buy up to five more. In addition to this we offer competitive salaries which are in line with market averages. For any over time worked our trainees receive time off in lieu.

We have our very own training centre at Bradenham Manor, which is a beautiful country house in Buckinghamshire. Our trainees also receive paid study leave whilst studying for their professional exams.

As a firm we are very much focussed on corporate responsibility. We are implementing a series of waste reduction strategies, support a national charity, run a national volunteer day and facilitate an international volunteer programme.
